Admission to Twin Cities RISE!

Twin Cities RISE! admits new participants continuously throughout the year. We start formal class sessions in:

• January
• March
• May
• August
• October
  

To be eligible to apply to Twin Cities RISE!, you must:

• At least 18 years old and live in Minnesota
• Have earned no more than $20,000 last year
• Own less than $7,000 in assets, not including a home.
• Assets may include:
  • Car
  • Savings
  • Stock
  • Mutual funds
  • Retirement pension plan
  • Trust fund
• Willing and able to work full time
• Eligible to be legally employed in the United States now and for the next 2 years
• Have a high school diploma or GED. If no GED, must be willing to obtain GED within 10 to 20 weeks
• Not currently a college student, attending another training program, or a 4 year degree holder from a US institution
• No Criminal Sexual Conduct convictions (CSC) or Arson convictions
• Individual has been out of jail for at least 90 days
• Individual has not used drugs in the last 42 days
• Applicant must demonstrate English fluency and basic literacy

Eligible applicants begin a three-step process that includes:

• An initial site visit
• Intake process and Assessment: program presentation and basic academic/language skills test, followed by interview with WorkSkills Coach
• A group orientation: after confirmation of admission, group orientation includes review of program policies, preview of first classes, and course registration
